In January, I will be doing a 5-part series called
"FIVE ROLES FOR A VERDI BARITONE"
and in March, a 3-part series called
"AN INTRODUCTION TO CZECH OPERA".
And after that ... well, yes, I have some ideas ...
Start the New Year with an on-line course?
Five Roles for a Verdi Baritone
starts on 3rd and 4th January 2021through Sue Walsh's CLASSI LEARNING
And as we all heroically prepare to endure the imminent deep dark mid-winter, what could be more heart-warming than the prospect of starting the new year with (a) snuggling up with the incomparable music of Giuseppe Verdi? … and (b) learning about 5 of his greatest roles for the baritone voice?
Yes, I knew that both of those prospects would gladden your heart! And, yes, the nights are already begiining to get shorter!
So - better times are just ahead ... and I promise to make this mid-winter learning course fun. Please join us.
For each class you have a choice of: 5 Sunday afternoons (from 4:00 to 5:15 pm) or 5 Monday afternoons (from 2:30 – 3:15 pm). Please specify your preference for the Sunday or Monday series on your registration since spaces are limited. You can also choose individual classes, if that works better for you.
And - if you act quickly, gift certificates are still available ... so that you can give this course to (lots of) your friends.
Here is how to register - now is the time - don't put it off - through Sue Walsh’s CLASSI LEARNING:
for the Sunday afternoon series:
and for the Monday afternoon series:
It's just $60 for the series - or $15 for an individual class.
And please make it your “new year’s resolution” to do it today – since time is obviously of the essence.
We will explore the vocal and dramatic challenges of these five roles:
Sunday 3rd and Monday 4th January 2021
the all-powerful king with two problem daughters.
Sunday 10th and Monday 11th January
the ruthless Scottish king guided by supernatural prophesies.
Sunday 17th and Monday 18th January
The despicable court pimp who is redeemed by the love of his daughter.
Sunday 31st and Monday 1st February
The embodiment of conventional bourgeois morality in “La traviata”.
Sunday 7th and Monday 8th February
RODRIGO, MARQUIS of POSA
The heroic friend of DON CARLO – assassinated by the Inquisition for his dangerously liberal beliefs.
I do hope that you will be able to join us
